Support and Counseling

FFl is here to help clients in a variety of areas outside of the physical nature of HIV/AIDS. We are here to let clients know that they are not alone in their journey to finding information on medical news, emotional support, and professional counseling in dealing with life and the illness.

General Services

Housing & Legal Assistance - in conjunction with other outside agencies. FFl can assist the clients with a variety of legal issues, such as Living Wills as well as assistance in obtaining affordable housing.

Home Food Delivery - available for clients unable to attend the Day Program who are in need of meals.

Continental Breakfast and Lunch - well-balanced and nutritional meals served on Wednesday and Thursdays for those attending the Day Program. Served by caring volunteer kitchen staff.

Food Pantry - Provided once a week to the clients to supplement their grocery needs. A great deal of the food supply for the pantry is provided by private donations and the Community Food Bank of Hillside, N.J.

Transportation - to and from the Day Program is provided by FFL on Wednesdays and Thursdays. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays transportation is provide to the clients for doctor, dental and eye exam appointments. Arrangement must be made in advance.

On-Going Activities

Educational Day Trips - for in services at other organizations.

Seminars and Workshops - are provided by a variety of outside organization such as CAPCO, Planned Parenthood and Pharmaceutical companies covering important topics, medical news and healthy living seminars.

Arts and Crafts - Available from time to time, depending on funding.

Positive Yoga - Every Tuesday evening (7:30 pm) at the Church of the Annunciation. This is an hour of Yoga followed by a Mind, Body and Spirit discussion group. Please note that transportation is not provided for this activity.

Complementary Therapies

Message Therapy - full body messages available on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Meditation - weekly Mindful Mediation by volunteer Ellen.

Acupuncture - Arrangement are made for outside services.

Reiki by Jennifer- available on Wednesdays .

Support Groups

Living with HIV Peer Support - A venue for the clients to express their concerns and experiences of live with HIV/AIDS among themselves in an effort to share information and support. Moderator included.

More than Positive - The premise of the group is to deal with life surrounding an HIV-postive diagnosis. This peer group will take shape with the input of the attendees and is open to men and women. The group will meet every other Tuesday at 7::30pm beginning Nov. 8, 2011 at the Church of Annunciation in Oradell, N.J. The group will be faillitated by Frank Hoehne with whom many of you are familiar. More information on Frank can be found at the following link: Frank Hoehne.

Men's Group - In these groups we address issues of concern to men in the comfort of a male-only environment.

Women's Group - Here we address issues of concern to women in the comfort of a female-only environment.

Spanish Group - This program is designed to assist clients who speak only Spanish or bilingual clients who are more comfortable in Spanish speaking situations.

Spiritual Services - Because we are housed in the Church of the Annunciation and are affiliated with the Church of the Good Shepherd, spiritual counseling is always available. On Wednesdays, Eucharist is performed at the church, and all are welcome to attend.

Special Events

Outdoor Picnics - weather permitting.

Day Trips - provided when funding is available. This could be to a museum, a Broadway show, the Bronx Zoo or other venues.

Movie Outings - usually once a month the clients are treated to a daytime outing to the movies. This is provided by the generosity of an anonymous donor.

Fund Raisers - In an effort to supplement our funding, FFL conducts fundraisers outside the church. In years past, the most notable have been the Fabulous Fakes show and award ceremony. (See the Events Sections)
